My name is Victor and I am a student here at AdVENTURE. You may be wondering, what is AdVENTURE, and why is it so special? AdVENTURE is a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) program. AdVENTURE is so special because we get to collaborate with other students to create many things with our wonderful and creative ideas.​ Besides the education, you can bond and make many memories with your friends, classmates, and teachers throughout your years here at AdVENTURE. In my 2 years here, I've met some of the greatest people that I know I may never see again. That's something that is so special, bringing a small community together, knowing one another and making lots of memories with each other, which makes it different from any other school.

     In AdVENTURE, you have a mindset for learning new things. A mindset that you can and will be able to work with different people to get different projects done. By working with other students, you are participating and you are taking responsibility for your work. Most of the time you are not doing individual work, it is mainly projects. At other schools, there will be some projects, but you aren't really learning what if feels like to work in a group for big projects. By working with different people, you're getting a taste of what it's like working in the real world.

      In AdVENTURE, technology is so important. Most of the time, we will be doing classwork and projects on the Chromebooks and laptops. In each AdVENTURE classroom, there is at least 1 computer cart that has at least 35 computers, 1 for each student. Here, we are given privileges, not rights. When being allowed using technology, whether its the computer or phones, we should be using it correctly, and following the AUP (Acceptable Use Policy). Being allowed to use technology in this program helps us learn in a new way. Unlike boring sheets of paper, we are using Google Drive, where it keeps all our docs, slides, and spreadsheets all in one place. Through this, we can collaborate with other people by sharing one document, and turn in through Edmodo or Google Classroom.

​     In AdVENTURE, we are here to do our best work and to always do better. There's always room for improvement. Here, we are allowed to regrade an assignment if it's not a zero. If you get a score you didn't like, you always try to do better. If you get a zero, it stays a zero. A zero must mean you didn't try, and if you didn't try then you shouldn't get another chance. So by actually doing the work, you actually improve each day and it leads to putting more effort into your work.

​     Throughout my e-portfolio, you will see all the marvelous things that we do here at AdVENTURE. For each subject, you will see an artifact/project, that I have my found my favorite throughout the year. Even though I have only been here for 2 years, it doesn't matter how much work I do, it matters about how quality is put into the work. There isn't a lot of stuff but you might still be amazed at the all the work we do with technology, elaboration and collaboration. ​After 2 years of AdVENTURE, I could say I had a great time here and I wish I could come back.
